  1. protect mailboxes with a username with is not the email address to avoid accounts being frozon

Many accounts are attacked by hackers and are frozen.
Source IP addresses are so multiple that dynamic screen is not enought.
We blacklist IP's on the FIRST offense, for as long as one month on the third offence.
Accounts are frozen only after 24 bad authentications.

But …. this is not enought.

Il the usernames was something different than the emails, account would not be frozen.

    Hello,

Thanks for sharing your idea with us. This is already possible using Aliases. In order to use WorldClient users will need to select the default from address and default reply-to addresses by going to Options / Compose.

If you would like further assistance configuring this, please contact our technical support team. All of our support options are available at www.altn.com/support.

    Thanks,

  3. Exception list for Attachment Filters

    This feature is broken.

    How:
When it looks at the "From:" email, if the domain STARTS with a domain in the "except from" option in the attachment exception filter it is still allowed in EVEN though it should NOT be.

    Example:

domain1.com is in the exception list for attachment filter.
    domain2.com: ATTACHMENT REMOVED
    domain1.com.uk: ATTACHMENT ALLOWED

Just a suggestion - the backend code should be:

    if (fromDomain == exceptionDomain)

    NOT

    if (fromDomain.Contains(exceptionDomain))

    Hello,

Thank you for sharing your idea with us to notify the postmaster when the remote queue contains more than X messages. MDaemon publishes performance counters that can be used to check the number of messages in the remote queue. Most network monitoring tools allow you access to Windows performance counters and can be used to notify the postmaster.

    Thanks,
    Arron

  6. Worldclient to field autofill defaults

When typing say Claire in the To box in Worldclient, it defaults to show all the Claire's in the address books and doesn't seem to use a history or suggested contacts list.

My clients are schools and they have access to the Council Address book which has about 800 Email addresses in it. Most of these addresses are never emailed to, but they show first when typing a name because of alphabetical order.

My recommendation would be to change this to use suggested list or frequently used contacts first, followed by local address books and then public address books otherwise…

  7. Jump to entry in logs in tab view

In the Remote Administration in logs, I am finding it very frustrating to use because I might filter for something like email@domain.co.uk and it will show the entries in the log with the date etc, but I cannot click on an entry to jump to that location in the log.

Because I am using one all log (rather than daily logs), I am jumping back 50 pages at a time or more to get nearer to the week that I am looking at, then jumping 10 pages etc at a time to get around the day and jumping a few…

  8. Overhaul signature system

Implement a fully functional Corporate signature system:
    1. Allows a full set of macros to be used so that a fully dynamic signature can be built rather than having to rely on on a mixture of both Outlook and MDaemon. Things like $FirstName$, $LatsName$, $JobTitle$, $PhoneNumber$, $Department$
    2. Allow macros to pull in Active Directory user data.
    3. Build in ability to position signature at the end of your reply rather than bunching them all up at the end of a long message thread... it looks very unprofessional!
    4. Perhaps in conjuction with the Outlook NewMail/Reply feature, use the CF…

  9. Reposition Email Signatures on Reply and Forward

MDaemon Signatures do not appear to be signatures as we come to appreciate in Outlook Emails, but rather a message Disclaimer. It would be nice to have the ability to position the signature after a senders message content added as a message reply or message forward. MDaemon currently adds the signatures to the very bottom of the message content of replied and forwarded messages. This doesn't look very professional when all the signatures appear to be grouped at the bottom of the message. It looks confusing. As a side note, users on mobiles devices with ActiveSync should have their mobile…

    Hello,

A new signature management tools has been implemented in MDaemon that addresses this issue. Added the ability to configure a signature that is pushed to supported mail clients (Webmail and MDaemon Connector). A default client signature can be set at Setup | Server Settings | Client Signatures or it can be set per domain on the Domain Manager’s “Client Signatures” screen. Use macros such as $CONTACTFULLNAME$, $CONTACTEMAILADDRESS$, to personalize the signature with data pulled from the user’s contact in the domain’s Public Contacts folder. Use the $ATTACH_INLINE:filename$ macro for inline images in the HTML signature. After entering signature text, it will appear in Webmail as the “System” signature, and will become the user’s default signature. It can be enabled/disabled by default at Setup | Web & IM Services | Webmail | Settings or per domain on the Domain Manager’s “Webmail” screen. For MDaemon Connector, the…

  10. Only allow authenticated SMTP through MSA. Block AuthSMTP on port 25.

Only allow authenticated SMTP through MSA. Block all SMTP Authentication Attempts on port 25.

To prevent a lot of spoofed botnet authenticated SMTP hammering I would like an user option in MDaemon to completely disallow Authenticated SMTP sesssions through port 25 and only allow it through the MSA port. (admin configured on/off)

Normal incoming (mailserver->mailserver) traffic is allowed as normal through port 25 but none that includes an attempt to authenticate.

As an addition, an option in Dynamic Screening could be added to blacklist any attempts to send authenticated traffic through port 25.
This could avoid further hammering from botnet…

  11. Allow Domain Admins to manage Spamtrap queue or Release tagged spam

A Domain Admin can see spam listed under the Public-Spam Trap from within WorldClient. Here the email can be tagged as Spam, forwarded, etc. but it cannot be Released.

Releasing legitimate email from the Spamfilter queue can only be performed by the Global Admin yet the Domain Admin can see all the spam - regardless of the domain - under the Public-Spam Trap.

At a minimum, if the Domain Admins can see the Public-Spam Trap under WorldClient then they should be able to see the Spamtrap Queue under Remote Administration.

    -OR-

the ability to Release needs to be allowed from…

  12. It would be nice to have support for Thunderbird's tags in Mdaemon's IMAP server.

Thunderbird writes its tags data in a .msf file if the IMAP server it is connected to does not support Thunderbird style tags; It would be nice if Mdaemon could support Thunderbird's tags.

  13. IMAP Migration Tool

It would be great if we could bring into MDaemon IMAP accounts from another server, preserving IMAP folders and so on...

We are facing plenty email domain migrations (new customers) and it is hard to accomplish this task.
If we could get one tool to manage this I'm sure we could get to much more customers.

  14. Ability to schedule "Forwarding" Just like "Autorespond"

When you create an "Out of Office" Auto responder, you can schedule it to launch during a set window. A lot of times, our employees go on vacation and will have their emails give an Auto response but also we forward a copy of the incoming email to a different user. Just in case it happens to be an order or some important info that needs to be had.
Currently the Auto responder has the ability to be scheduled, but the Forwarding does not have this option. It would be nice if this could be implemented.

    Hello,

Thank you for sharing your idea to always require a read receipt. Responding to a read receipt is a function of the email client. WorldClient can be configured to always send a read receipt when one is requested by going to Options, Personalize, and setting the option for Send Read Confirmations to Yes. If you want all of the emails you send to request read receipts you can use the content filter in MDaemon to add X-Confirm-Reading-To and Disposition-Notification-To headers to your email with the value set to your email address.

    Thanks,
    Arron

  18. Add support for clustering

Allow for a two machine setup so that a user's mailbox can be located on two servers, such that the two mailboxes are synchronised in an IMAP like fashion. Both mail servers can receive mail via alternate MX records and update the user's local mailbox, which in turn gets synchronised with the corresponding mailbox in the alternate server.

Likewise a user can connect to either servers to read, delete or send mail and the other server's corresponding mailbox will get synchronised accordingly.

DNS caching could be limited to say 10 minutes, so within 10 minutes or less after…

  19. Ability to batch import PST files into users mailboxes

Customers migrating from other Mail platforms often have a set of per user PST files they wish to migrate over to MDaemon. Currently the method of migrating this information involves each user setting up a new Outlook connector profile, Mounting the PST and moving the data over manually.

This works but is long winded for multiple users. It would be great if this migration could happen at the server. For example. you could have a migration tool that matches PST files (named to match MDaemon user accounts) and runs through the process of importing the data within the PST file…

  20. Increase the maximum length of account passwords in MDaemon

The new password paradigm in security circles is "longer is better" -- but MDaemon is limited to 15 chars max for user passwords. More please! Like maybe 25-30 max?
