    Hello Brian,

Thanks for sharing your ideas to force SSL/TLS for all clients. We will look into adding options for force TLS/SSL for IMAP and POP clients in a future version. One option to force POP and IMAP users to use SSL is to only allow the SSL ports for these protocols through the firewall. Another option is to turn off support for plain text passwords. This will force the users to choose a secure means of transmitting the password which are either the use of Cram-MD5 or an SSL/TLS connection. Forcing the use of SSL/TLS on port 25 may result in other servers not being able to send you email, but it is possible to do using the STARTTLS Required List.

    Thanks,

    Arron

    Hi Brian,

Does disabling the option to allow plain text passwords not work for you? You can also disable the use of APOP and CRAM-MD5 authentication which means the only way you can authenticate is by using an SSL/TLS connection.

If you'd like help setting this up, please contact our support team for assistance. All of our support options are available at http://www.altn.com/support.

    Hello David,

Thank you for sharing your idea to configure whether logging on as an alias is allowed on a per account basis. In case you are not aware, this can be configured for the entire server. Allowing this to be configured per user will be considered for future versions.

    Thanks,
    Arron

You have to edit the MDaemon.ini file and set AllowAliasLogon=No in the [Special] section of the file. Save the changes and restart MDaemon.

I sent a message to myself using the link you provided. I received the email just as you described, but I'm not understanding what changes you would like to see included in WorldClient. Any additional details you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Alessandro,

Thanks you for sharing your idea. It will be considered for future versions of MDaemon. Currently, you can require users to send email using their email address by enabling the SMTP Authentication options for “Authentication is always required when mail is from local accounts” and “Authentication credentials must match those of the email sender”, however, with these options enabled there is not a way to allow one user to send on behalf of another user.

    Thanks,
    Arron

If you don't want user X to be able to send mail as user Y enable the option for Authentication credentials must match those of the email sender. If you'd like additional assistance making changes to the server, please contact our support team or your Alt-N partner.

Unfortunately, work has not begun on adding this functionality.

    Hello,

Thank you for sharing your idea with us to allow MDaemon to authenticate to an LDAP database. If you’re LDAP database happens to be Active Directory you can already do this.

Your request to allow MDaemon to authenticate with other 3rd party LDAP databases will be considered for future versions.

    Thanks,
    Arron

Our current mechanism that allows you to authenticate against Active Directory uses Windows API calls. It will not work with an LDAP database. I mentioned it just in case the LDAP server you were talking about was Active Directory.

I have a powershell script that can search the logs and provide a count of the number of greylisted connections. If you are interested please contact me privately.

    Hello,

Thank you for sharing your idea with us. Currently you can prevent a user from moving a public folder by removing their delete permissions. Improving upon this so that users can have access to delete messages but not access to move folders will be considered for future versions.

    Thanks,

    Arron

    Hello Tim,

Thank you for submitting your idea, it will be considered for future versions.

In case you are not aware similar functionality can be accomplished using the content filter, however, the server will need to accept the mail for processing. Then if the message was over the limit set the rule would need to delete the email and send a message back to the sender notifying them of the problem.

    Hi Pat,

You should already have the information for 3rd party services setup in your SPF record. If you do not, then you are probably having issues with some email getting delivered. As long as you have SPF checking enabled in MDaemon they should already be getting compared to your SPF record. Since you have IPShielding and SPF enabled the message would have to pass both. If SPF is enabled but not being checked, make sure you do not have options enabled that would exclude the messages from SPF checks. If you are still having issues, please contact our support team for further assistance. All of our support options can be found at http://www.altn.com/support/.

    Thanks,

    Hi Pat,

The IPShield.dat file should already be available via WebAdmin under Logs / Config Files. If its not, take a look at the filelist-$LANGCODE$.dat file in the MDaemon\app directory. Where $LANGCODE$ is the two character language code. It should have the following in the section for MDaemon configuration files.

File=IPSHIELD.DAT, Data file containing IP Shield settings

If that does not exist you should be able add the entry and after restarting MDaemon and MDaemon Remote Administration (WebAdmin) be able to access the file.
