Determining the effectiveness of applying a security setting
The following security settings would be a good example here.
Close connection if no PTR exists
Close connection if no PTR Match
Outbreak Protection
Spambot DetectionI used to have Spambot Detection enabled but I disabled it a few months back because it appeared to me that the only emails being affected by this were legitimate senders.
I currently have both PTR checks above enabled. We have had a few legitimate senders affected by this.
I also have Outbreak Protection enabled
However there is no easy way for me to list all senders (domains) that were affected by security setting…
1 voteHello,
Thank you for sharing your idea to collect statistics on the effectiveness of security settings. It will be considered for future versions.
If you’d like to implement something right now, you can probably accomplish this using a powershell script.

Whitelisting specifc attachments from specific senders
I have moved to whitelisting attachments. What would be useful is to add to the exceptions attachments handling is the ability to whitelist say .zip files from a specific sender instead of just simply whitelisting sender which allows all attachments including dangerous virus attachments. While we trust the sender, obviously they may get infected with a virus and then infect us if the AV does not pick it up. Thank you.
1 voteHi Robert,
Thank you for following up with the additional information. Adding email/attachment pairs to exclude from the attachment restrictions will be considered for future versions.
Thanks again for the idea and for following up.

Saved Search Show unread count
Show a message count for how many unread or flagged emails are in each Saved Search Folder. All other folders show a message count of unread emails so would be consistent and many people like seeing a number. As these two folders will be used the most it makes sense to have a message count.
1 voteHello,
Thank you for sharing your idea with us to show unread counts for saved searches. It will be considered for future versions.

Intergrade abuseipdb
Abuseipdb https://www.abuseipdb.com/ has an free api to check ip's and Report ip's who are abusive
I find it a very reliable source and as mdaemon postmasters, we could help reporting abusive ip's (automaticly after more than x unsuccesfull authentications from one ip) thus using the mechanism mdaemon already uses to block ip's
22 votesHello,
Thank you for your suggestion to integrate with the abuseIPDB. We will look into it for future versions.

Mdaemon Desktop Instant Messenger modernise GUI Interface
The gui interface of desktop instant messenger looks dated.
Could you replace the icons for text colour, spelling, send file etc with a more modern look and also make the main window showing the contacts look modern. The small font and very dated green and red icons make it look very old fashioned.

MDaemon filtering feature request
We’d like the ability to be able to watch an email working it’s way through the various filters, building up score as it goes.
Graphically we’d like it to look like the mousetrap game / Rube Goldberg machine.
Any email scoring highly enough to be classed as SP@M should disappear down a plughole of some sort and be accompanied by the ‘pacman dying’ sound effect.
By the end of the month would be nice - yes please! 👍
1 voteHello,
LOL, I think this would be fantastic, now I just have to convince my boss. I’ll see what I can do for you.
Thanks for the great idea!

ability to add to dynamic screen ip addresses that fail geolocation and they attempt auth
ability to add to dynamic screen ip addresses that fail geolocation and they attempt auth
1 voteHello,
Thanks again for your suggestion. I just realized I was not understanding your request correctly. Since you are allowing all SMTP traffic you would like to add IPs to the block list that attempt to authenticate. None of the clients should even attempt to authenticate since we are removing AUTH from the list of possible commands, however, it is possible for a client to ignore this and try to authenticate anyway. Your request to add the IP of these clients to the Dynamic Screening black list will be considered for future versions.
Thanks again for your suggestion and my apologies for not catching on quicker.

Allow MDIM users to see contacts from other domains
I cannot set Mdaemon to allow a client to view more than one domain (but not all domains) in the search contact list. I have a number of clients that need to communicate with members on other domains, but I don't want them to see all the domains.
Could you not use the Mdaemon functionality in place that allows me to share contacts between domains for email use for IM as well?
0 votesHello,
Thank you for sharing your idea with us to allows users to add contacts from other domains, but not allow them to see all domains. It will be considered for future versions.

Prevent SmartHost to be used right after the first try (graylisting)
We are using "Send directly and use smart host on problems."
As soon as graylisting is involved this immediately enforces the smart host to be used while it should not.
An option to specify the amount of unsuccessful direct connections (before the fallback to the smart host is used) should be added.
1 voteHello,
Thank you for sharing your idea with us to delay the use of a smart host when a failure occurs. It will be considered for future versions.

Hard Links for Copies
In our company, we use readonly public folders for departmental in/out mails, and read/write for custom archiving. As practically all mails get archived at least once, this leads to lots of wasted space.
So, suggestion:
When possible (folders on same drive), add support for and give the option to enable "create hard links for copied files". This would not only reduce space, but will probably also increase performance, due to fewer actual data = more unique content cached.1 voteHello,
Thank you for your suggestion, it will be considered for future versions.

Autoresponder - multiple message based on time of day
I have a client with a sales@ email account for incoming enquiries, they would like an autoresoponder message for day time when they are open and a different message for evening time. This would allow them to comply with Brand standards.

Thank you for sharing your idea with us to allow multiple autoresponders to be configured for an account. It will be considered for future versions.

content filter trigger when a message moves from remote to retry queue
Hi,
I use content filter to route postmaster@ messages to a different remote queue.
Many of thèses messages will never be delivered (noreply, spam ... ) and the normal Delivery process will try again and again to send them for many days.
I use a different speficic Schedule attached to this queue, but it is not possible to try to send message immediately when queued. One solution : an option to try to send message immediatly, the 3 actual options do not permit it.
Another one : a trigger in the content filter when a message il delayed and move…

Buddy Messaging - Directory setup in Groups and Sub Groups
It would be really helpful if as an Admin we could set up the listing of members of staff in the World Client Instant Messenger window for all users in cascade folders . This way we could display
Country
City
Department
Names
This would allow easier navigation to find the person you want to IM. A search field at the top to be added if you know who you want.1 voteHello Carl,
Thank you for sharing your idea with us to centrally manage the groups in the buddy list. It will be considered for future versions.

control whether aliases can be used to log-in
We have some aliases that are never used to log-in, authenticate, or send e-mail. But, we see hack attempts that try to authenticate using those aliases. I would like to see a per-user control that allows/disallows authentication by aliases.
14 votesHello David,
Thank you for sharing your idea to configure whether logging on as an alias is allowed on a per account basis. In case you are not aware, this can be configured for the entire server. Allowing this to be configured per user will be considered for future versions.

Allow authentication against an LDAP directory without full integration
Allow MDaemon to authenticate users against an LDAP directory (by performing an LDAP bind, optionally using a proxy user first).
We don't want to and we can't let MDaemon write to our directory. Therefore it would be great if we created the user we could just say "for authentication go look at ldap server ldap.domain.com and try to authenticate there". The rest of the configuration is local in MDaemon. (We want to integrate with our LDAP, not assimilate it from MDaemon).
7 votesHello,
Thank you for sharing your idea with us to allow MDaemon to authenticate to an LDAP database. If you’re LDAP database happens to be Active Directory you can already do this.
Your request to allow MDaemon to authenticate with other 3rd party LDAP databases will be considered for future versions.

Add ability to allow specific email useraccounts to skip SMTP authentication
Add ability to allow specific email user accounts to skip SMTP authentication if the connection is initiated from a specific IP adress.
Currently you can only choose to have or not have SMTP autentication, all over server.
I want to be able at a useraccount level to add exeptions from SMTP auth, by adding one or more IP-adresses (or range, DNS-names) that should skip SMTP Auth.
It's very usefull and it's possible in Exchange.
I have a customer that hesitates to move from Exchange to MDaemon, just because this function is missing in MDaemon.
It should be easy to fix?
4 votesHello,
Thanks for sharing your idea with us to allow an account to be excluded from the SMTP auth requirement when the connection is from a specified IP address.
My apologies for not providing this information previously.
Currently this can be done using a combination of IP Shielding and SMTP authentication. To do this go to Security / Security Settings / Sender Authentication / IP Shield. Enable IP Shielding and then add the domain/IP pairs for the IP address and domain you’d like to be able to send mail without authenticating. For example, if I want 10.10.10.10 to be able to send mail for test.mail without authenticating I would add a domain IP pair for test.mail, 10.10.10.10. At a minimum you’ll want to add a single domain IP pair for every domain that is hosted locally. If you don’t want to allow any IP addresses to send mail for the…

Track the # of Graylisted connections
Graylisting is a great way to help stem the flood of spam when used properly. I believe it would be beneficial for reporting and/or monitoring purposes to be able to have a statistical count available over time. I would be great to review this on the Remote Admin Reports pages, possibly viewed as Email Count Graylisted and Email Count Successful.
4 votesHello,
Thanks for your suggestion to add email counters for Greylisted and Successful in MDaemon Remote Administration reports. It will be considered for future versions.

Add ability to force SSL/TLS connections for all authenticated users
Currently the only option available is to force MSA clients to use SSL/TLS, but should be an option for all authenticating clients. TLS uses the standard ports, so they cannot currently be forced to use encryption. Any authenticated POP, IMAP and SMTP should be subject to this.
5 votesHello Brian,
Thanks for sharing your ideas to force SSL/TLS for all clients. We will look into adding options for force TLS/SSL for IMAP and POP clients in a future version. One option to force POP and IMAP users to use SSL is to only allow the SSL ports for these protocols through the firewall. Another option is to turn off support for plain text passwords. This will force the users to choose a secure means of transmitting the password which are either the use of Cram-MD5 or an SSL/TLS connection. Forcing the use of SSL/TLS on port 25 may result in other servers not being able to send you email, but it is possible to do using the STARTTLS Required List.
Thanks,
