  2. Jump to entry in logs in tab view

In the Remote Administration in logs, I am finding it very frustrating to use because I might filter for something like email@domain.co.uk and it will show the entries in the log with the date etc, but I cannot click on an entry to jump to that location in the log.

Because I am using one all log (rather than daily logs), I am jumping back 50 pages at a time or more to get nearer to the week that I am looking at, then jumping 10 pages etc at a time to get around the day and jumping a few…

  3. restricted login hours

Per Account Control of Login Hours to comply with new laws regarding after hours work and pay. The goal is simply to prevent a user from login outside of their designated time. Employees arriving early or leaving late, or working after hours should be something that can be restricted per user in order to deal with hourly versus salary rules, etc.. This must work across SMTP, World Client, POP, IMAP, etc..

    Hello Tray,

Thank you for sharing your idea to add the ability to restrict the ability to login after hours. MDaemon already includes this functionality. To restrict the hours an account can authenticate, go to Accounts / Groups & Templates. Create a new group and assign an account to the group. Then select the group you just created in the Tree on the left of the dialog. Check the box to enable Do Not Disturb and click the button for Define Do Not Disturb schedule to configure the schedule.

If you’d like further assistance configuring Do Not Disturb, please contact our support team directly. All of our support options are available at http://www.altn.com/support.

    Thanks,
    Arron

  4. Mark mail as Spam when using ActiveSync

I have users who connect to the server through ActiveSync. As far i can see they can not mark a message as spam for bayesian learning. I don't now exactly if it is possible but it would be nice a mail can be marked as spam on a client which uses activesync.

    Hello,

Thank you for sharing your idea to enable ActiveSync Clients to mark a message as spam. Unfortunately, we can’t add a “Mark as Spam” button in the AS email clients are we do not control the client, as there is nothing in the ActiveSync specification to add a custom action such as this. However, there is a way to mark messages as spam or not spam. You have to enable the synching of public folders to the device and then the device can copy/move the message to the #Spam/#NonSpam public folders.

    Thanks,

    Arron

  5. Detect accounts that have been compromised and disable them

Spammers often figure out passwords for accounts using things like dictionary attacks. If MDaemon could detect when an account was compromised and prevent it from sending email it would make the administrators life much easier.

  8. Cached previously used addressed within Worldclient

Cache used addressed within Worldclient and automatically lookup in to\cc\bcc fields when composing or replying to messages.

Addresses should be identifiable as coming from cache or the already available address book entries.

This is already possible with the latest versions of MDaemon. Go to Security / Spam Filter / White List (automatic). Check the box for Automatically update white listed contacts. There are also per user settings on the Options page of the Account editor that will need to be enabled. The whitelist contacts folder will be used by autocomplete.

  10. When configuring Account hijack detection, allow different limits to be set for internal and external IP ranges.

This may help with mail shots and users sending the occasional volume email from internal IP ranges while still protecting accounts from external hijacking.

MDaemon has the ability to log a unique ID string in all mail sessions. This enables you to trace all log entries related to a particular email. You can enable the option by going to Setup / Default Domain & Servers / Logging / Options, check the box for “Log unique ID string in all mail sessions.”

  13. LDAP Object-Verification in Gateway objects

Currently it's only possible to verify against LDAP to check whether a user exists or not, it's not possible to check if it's a mail-enabled group, distributorlist or public folder. It would be great if it would be possible to define the object it will be tested against.

  14. Update default SMTP Authentication security settings

It seems the default setting for Security Settings > Sender Authentication > SMTP Authentication > 'Authentication is always required when mail is from local accounts'; is OFF.

This would benefit by being ON by default, with '...unless message is to a local account' ticked ON by default also.

When this is off, clients with generic mail addresses such as admin@ have problems with spam bots using their addresses.

    Hello James,

MDaemon 12.5 and newer have IP shielding configured by default to require messages from local domains to be from local IP addresses. If the message is not from a local user and not from a local IP address they are required to authenticate when sending. If you are installing MDaemon 12.5 or newer and are not seeing this behavior please contact technical support for assistance. You can find all of your support options by going to http://www.altn.com/Support/.

  15. X-reciept in WebAdmin spamtrap folder

It would be nice to see a new column with the address of the recipient of the mail in WebAdmin spamtrap folder. The ‘To:’ field is often empty or not with the recipient address.
I use this info to determine whether a mail in the spamtrap folder should be released or deleted.

  18. Automatically generate and enclose Vcard and/or MeCard. Perfectly it would ad the QR-Quode.

Depending on a key-word in the mail, MDaemon should ad/genereate a vCard (for Outlookers) and/or a MeCard (perfectly encoded as QR-Code). Lot of people still print out emails. For those the QR-Code would be great.

  19. Notifications

We recently had some compromised accounts, and I was blissfully unaware until users brought it to my attention. I updated to the latest version to add the hijack detection, but sadly found no notification ability in that feature as well. I need to know when user accounts have been compromised and other important things like quota reports and hard drive status. Please put some notifications in the program. I usually don't worry about the mailserver, but now I feel the need for more informaiton.

  20. Emails from blacklist address which arrive by Multipop go to Bad Queue instead of being deleted

When a message from a email address in blacklist user folder arrives to Mdaemon by Multipop, the message go to the Bad queue. But if the message arrives to Mdaemon by SMTP, the message is deleted. I think the message should be deleted also when it arrives via Multipop
