Update default SMTP Authentication security settings
It seems the default setting for Security Settings > Sender Authentication > SMTP Authentication > 'Authentication is always required when mail is from local accounts'; is OFF.
This would benefit by being ON by default, with '...unless message is to a local account' ticked ON by default also.
When this is off, clients with generic mail addresses such as admin@ have problems with spam bots using their addresses.
Hello James,
MDaemon 12.5 and newer have IP shielding configured by default to require messages from local domains to be from local IP addresses. If the message is not from a local user and not from a local IP address they are required to authenticate when sending. If you are installing MDaemon 12.5 or newer and are not seeing this behavior please contact technical support for assistance.
