Flexibility in licensing model to accommodate for fail-over servers, or cluster discount
Some situations arise where mail servers are installed in a VM, and a copy of the guest instance to a redundant server, in the event that the primary goes offline.
Unfortunately 2 identical servers, only possible difference being difference in MAC, IP & hostname, cannot run at the same time (usually a testing situation), and causes needless complexity in the activation (and could in fact invalidate both).Only a single server of the 2 will be the active principal server at any given time, but such a scenario causes uncertainty as to the reliability of the setup, especially in an…

Have shared folders display in Activesync devices
It would be very convenient to have shared folders display in Activesync devices as standard. At the moment one has to do all sorts of tricks with extra accounts to get shared folders, contacts and calendars.
61 votesHello,
Support for accessing Shared Folders via ActiveSync was added to MDaemon 14.0.0.

Allow password-protected zip attachments to bypass AV quarantine, rather than be caught by the "can't be scanned" setting
Customers have started sending large volumes of password-protected zip files (incl password protected MS Office files) and we currently have to manually release each one from quarantine. The option to quarantine messages that can't be scanned is something we want to keep, but allowing password-protected zip files to pass through (maybe just from authenticated local accounts) would prevent potentially large delivery delays for customers.
22 votesThis has been added in MDaemon 13.0.3.

Display tree view of public folders
The folder listing for the public folders is currently in one flat list, both in the Server UI and Web Admin, which makes managing hundreds of folders difficult. This should be displayed in a tree list, like it is in World Client, so that folders can be collapsed.
Also, increase the size of the folder listing box in the server UI when expanding the "Default Domain & Server" configuration form. At the moment, the form expands, but the folders list box stays very small. {The ACL settings panel, and the bottom of the folders list should track the bottom of…

Include traffic charts that show number of messages sent per user per day
Record how many messages a user sends per day (this would be very useful for the stats and traffic graphs, but also would help choose a value to block on)
65 votesHello,
Traffic charts that show the number of message sent per user per day have been added in MDaemon 14.5.0.

Update default SMTP Authentication security settings
It seems the default setting for Security Settings > Sender Authentication > SMTP Authentication > 'Authentication is always required when mail is from local accounts'; is OFF.
This would benefit by being ON by default, with '...unless message is to a local account' ticked ON by default also.
When this is off, clients with generic mail addresses such as admin@ have problems with spam bots using their addresses.
1 voteHello James,
MDaemon 12.5 and newer have IP shielding configured by default to require messages from local domains to be from local IP addresses. If the message is not from a local user and not from a local IP address they are required to authenticate when sending. If you are installing MDaemon 12.5 or newer and are not seeing this behavior please contact technical support for assistance. You can find all of your support options by going to http://www.altn.com/Support/.

Password expiration
Password expiration. It should be a setting to require the users to periodically change their password and give them an reminder when the password are about to expire. When the password are expired the user should not be able to send mail and Worldclient should require a password change before opening the normal view.
34 votesHello,
MDaemon 13.5.0 allows an administrator to configure the maximum number of days before a user will have to change their password.

Add support for 3rd party IM clients by including an XMPP server
Truly merge IM messaging into the mailserver with XMPP, especially sinds xmpp also uses e-mail adressing in their system. This way internet messaging is possible to other jabber / xmpp servers, withoud the hassel of keeping up extra im software and creating all user accounts twice...once for e-mail and once for IM
60 votesHello,
MDaemon 16.5 includes a new XMPP server for instant messaging.

Daily administrator report email to summarise over-quota and near-quota accounts (global for postmaster and per-domain for domain admins)
With users storing more and more in the "cloud", quota management is becoming a bigger issue. It would help to pro-actively manage this with users if a daily report email summarised those accounts that are over- or nearing their quota limit.
8 votesHello,
MDaemon 13.5.0 includes an option to send daily reports to administrators summarizing over quota and near quota accounts.

Include a Message Recall function
MS Exchange server offers to pull-back sent emails IF not opened by recipient(s). it is good to see it in MDaemon's feature list.
76 votesHello,

Search Feature in MDaemon Spam Trap
Implement a search feature for MDaemon's Spam Trap folder when viewing it from within WebAdmin. Several times I have had to look for email addresses or domain names within the SPAM Trap folder and when you have tens of thousands of emails it is a tedious task. To be able to search criteria would make this much easier
2 votesHello,
MDaemon Remote Administration can now be used to search the spam trap.

Traffic Charts, new screens: total of Mb Downloaded/Uploaded and bandwidth
Hi
Do you have the possibility to add two another screens into the new traffic charts, or is there already an ETA for them?
The first will be the total off MB downloaded and uploded by day.
the second will be the bandwidth use by day by mdaemon connexion
I would like to know what is the part of bandwidth use by mdaemon (Actually i have mdaemon, other servers and internet proxy on a same wan link), and i don't know if mdaemon use little or much more bandwith.
It could be helpfull to me to know the usage of…

Configuration Change Logging and Notifications
I suffered an unauthorized config change incidence where my assistant admin made changes to config by adding forwarding emails to critical mailboxes.
Could you please add role based management with a config change notifier for Master admin through sms gateway or by sending alert to super-admin alternative email address.
5 votesHello,
Change logging has been implemented in Remote Administration.
At this time we do not have plans to include the ability to send notifications about changes in MDaemon. All changes are logged to the change log. Notifications could be automated through the use of scripting tools such as Powershell.

Return to Mailing Lists window after editing a mailing list
After pressing Alt+F6 the Mailing Lists window appears. When you select a mailing list to edit and hit Cancel or OK you should return to this window. Now you have to re-open this window. Not nice when you want to edit multiple mailing lists.
5 votesHello,
The Mailing List editor was updated for MDaemon 15.0.0 and now allows you to edit multiple mailing lists without having to repeatedly go through the menu system.

Public folder post/message notification (Short Summary) to Users group
Each time when any update post (email) available to public folder It should just send notification like summary instead full message with attachment : This will save Inbox size (attachment) and avoid duplication.

Multicore MDSpamd
Under heavy load, MDSpamd used only 100/#cores % of CPU, means it's unable to use more than one core per time (seen with Windows 2003 x64).
It would be great, since internally works using a multithread architecture, that could take full advantage of a multicore environment.41 votesHello,
MDaemon 15.0.0 includes a new MDSpamD which supports multiple cores.

Ability to Mark a Domain as Inactive
Would be useful when moving a domain from an external server to your own server to allow for accounts to be created for the domain prior to the actual move. Currently, this gives two issues. First, you have to use a forwarding workaround (on each account) to continue to deliver mail to the existing server and second, during the time you're creating the accounts, any emails sent locally to un-configured accounts will be returned to the sender with a mailbox unknown error. How much easier it would be if there was a flag that denoted that emails for this domain…
