  4. Option/support to use memory, instead of disk; for anti-spam, Cfilter, and WorldClient

Under heavy volume (especially a 50% spam rate), CFilter and MSpamD's normal behavior may slow down drive access. Also, WebDaemon becomes erratic and unusable during periods of high volume: this partly from the fact it too uses the HDD for temporary files. The only option to alleviate any of this involves use of a RAMdrive: which I am currently testing, but pretty sure most admins would be uncomfortable with. Whatever can be done in memory, that would not compromise operations; should be supported by default. This would also help SSD users avoid unnecessary drive writes as well: since files/data that…

    Hello Michael,

Thank you for sharing your idea with us. Without knowing more about your setup I can’t say for sure but you may be able to improve performance by altering your configurations and/or optimizing the hardware that MDaemon uses. MDaemon is very I/O intensive but solid state drives are usually only necessary in very large installations. We have some recommended hardware specifications available by user size at http://www.altn.com/Products/MDaemon-Email-Server-Windows/System-Requirements/. Alternatively our technical support team would be happy to try to help optimize your server. If you are interested you can find all of our support options at http://www.altn.com/Support/. With all of that being said, thank you for your suggestion to optimize the message processing by making better use of the available RAM. We will consider this for future versions of MDaemon.

  7. Zero Inbox Filtering (server-side)

I have been using a service for a while that saves a lot of time by automatically filtering emails out of my inbox and into folders (it learns how I move emails to/from these folders). It would be really cool if MD could provide the same functionality to users. This raises productivity.

  8. More detailed ACLs on Mailboxes

It would be very comfortable and helpful, if ACLs on Mailboxes were more differentiated. Particulary a differentiation between mailbox owner and those who have additional access to that mailbox is important when it comes to critical operations like deleting a entries.

    Example:
If a user (e.g. secretary) has the rights to add and delete entries in a mailbox of his directors or colleague, he can not only delete the contacts and appointments which he added to this mailbox, but also the contacts and appointments which were maintained by the mailbox owner.

So for business use cases it would be a…

  9. Spam filter per domain

It would be nice if the spam filter worked per domain rather than as a global setting.
eg. We run multiple domains and one domain would like tighter spam filtering by adjusting the spam score parameters, however you can't do this without also affecting the other domains.

  10. Improve Dynamic Screening

It would be great if we could block ips which are sending to unknown recipients or sending confirmed spam into a specified period of time.

i.e. if one IP sends more than "X" confirmed spam mails in less than "Y" minutes, then block that IP for "Z" minutes.
If one IP is proving email addresses, and causes "X" recipient unknown responses in less than "Y" minutes, then block that IP for "Z" minutes.

    Hello,

Thank you for sharing your idea with us.

MDaemon is capable of blocking IPs that cause X recipient unknown responses. To configure this open MDaemon and go to Setup / Security / Dynamic Screening. Enter a value in the “Block IPs that cause this many failed RCPTs”

MDaemon is not currently capable of blocking IPs that attempt to send more than X confirmed spam messages. This could be a dangerous feature if your spam filter were mis-configured but we will look into it further.

    Thanks,
    Arron

  11. ComAgent: Save recipient list for group chats

It would be nice to be able to save a recipient list for group chats so that instead of having to select each recipient every time you start a group chat you could select a pre-saved group to send the message to.

  12. Dynamic mail forward to external host, Similar to Multipop

Dynamic Mail forward to external host, similar to what is done in Multipop, ie based on the users POP access, can save bandwidth for those who forward mail to external host to read mail when outside the office.

  13. Add support for virtual folders, available via WorldClient, IMAP, OC, API

At present, clients accessing the object base managed by MDaemon, can only see and are offered real and actual folders existing on the file system of the server. Add the ability to define virtual folders. There could be two kind of virtual folders: (A) those provided by MDaemon itself (say, the union of two or more real folders of the same type: messages, calendars, contacts etc.), and (B) those provided by plug-in libraries developed by ISV.

Since MDaemon 13.0, with the introduction of generic file folders, a useful virtual folder would be a union of folders of different default tipe,…

  14. ComAgent - Ability to send directly a screen snapshot

We use ComAgent internaly between several services, somes of them have asked for a new feature in comAgent : it would be nice to be able to take and send directly a snapshot of the screen to a contact via IM.

  15. Add SMTP forward address verification for Gateways

Currently, it is only possible to check recipients in Gateway domains against LDAP,Minger or File based recipient lists. It would be great if MDaemon supported SMTP based Call-Forward (lookahead) recipient address verification.

  16. Hijack detection operating for individual domains instead of server level

The detection of the hijack accounts is a very useful feature. It would be more useful to run at the domain level rather than at the server level because different domains may have different SMTP settings

  19. For public's folder, is there anyway to have only html links for files..

    Hello

For public folder's Is there anyway, for next version of Mdaemon/oc to have a specific behaviour and "an option" for public folder's, (which contains mails) to have only link to attachments, they contained

I'd like to publish some informatiion into public folders, but if i synchronise them into wan with OC, bandwith will not be enough, and all public data will be replicated to the pc's wan users.

Publics folders can actually be used in LAN with OC, or Wan with OC with TSE and Citrix, but... not Wan with OC... or just also for few data like contacts…

  20. Size restriction on ingoing/outgoing basis

Currently there is a setting for restricting large message sizes, with an option for skipping this check for authenticated sessions.

Can this be improved on to allow different configurable values for local domains, and everyone else. Effectively a different limit for authenticated sessions, rather than the existing bypass.

It would be advantageous to limit the size of emails sent out, but not prevent larger ones from being received.

    Hello Tim,

Thank you for submitting your idea, it will be considered for future versions.

In case you are not aware similar functionality can be accomplished using the content filter, however, the server will need to accept the mail for processing. Then if the message was over the limit set the rule would need to delete the email and send a message back to the sender notifying them of the problem.
