  1. Cache IMs when offline

IMs are not delivered when the user is offline. That is really retro. They should be cached for a certain amount of time and delivered to the user when they are back online.

  2. Widen the usage of groups

I see MDaemon has a basic concept (of groups and templates). Now it would be really nice if you could actually use these groups outside of the administration interface (e.g. for people to use).

Like saying: I want to send a mail to all people of that department (no need to define a mailing list, which would be redundant, if groups are used properly). Or: I want to invite that group of people to a meeting (calendar).

Alternatives are welcome, like creating mailing lists which take their users from LDAP. I see this might be possible, however it is not…

    Hello,

Thanks again for sharing your ideas with us. In the current version of MDaemon you can configure a list to have a Group as a member. Does that accomplish what you are trying to do?

To add a Group as a member of a list you can click the Add button on the members tab and then click the bottom to the right of the Email field. Then select the desired groups and click OK. You can also just type GROUP:$GROUPNAME$ in the Email field, where $GROUPNAME$ is the name of the group.

    Thanks,
    Arron

  3. Allow authentication against an LDAP directory without full integration

Allow MDaemon to authenticate users against an LDAP directory (by performing an LDAP bind, optionally using a proxy user first).

We don't want to and we can't let MDaemon write to our directory. Therefore it would be great if we created the user we could just say "for authentication go look at ldap server ldap.domain.com and try to authenticate there". The rest of the configuration is local in MDaemon. (We want to integrate with our LDAP, not assimilate it from MDaemon).

    Hello,

Thank you for sharing your idea with us to allow MDaemon to authenticate to an LDAP database. If you’re LDAP database happens to be Active Directory you can already do this.

Your request to allow MDaemon to authenticate with other 3rd party LDAP databases will be considered for future versions.

    Thanks,

  4. Same "subject" in too many recepient

When i see the same subject in 10 o 20 messages from outside world to inside domain with different address (eg: a@one.it, b@two.com, c@three.net) theese messages are sure fake mail. I would like to add XX point to hash subject each day

  5. Export an MDaemon Group to a Contacts Folder

It would really be beneficial to us in a school environment to be able to create a contacts list based on Group Membership.

Below is an email thread with our UK support.

Is it possible to create another public address book called "Students" that will automatically be populated with the members of the "Students" Group and then I could make this readable ONLY by the Teachers group, as I don't want the students accessing the email addresses of all the other students.

I can see the benefit of being able to export an MDaemon Group to a Contacts Folder (especially…

  6. Auto Respons function, Separate response messages depending on whether it is a local or external account

In Exchange, you can choose two different auto reply messages depending on whether the sender is a local account on the mail server (colleagues) or if the sender is external.

Very useful when you are on vacation you might want to inform your colleagues about how to manage internal affairs during the absence, you can inform about the times they can call even though you have holiday etc.

External response will not contain that information.

You may also be able to develop this great feature even better than Exchange, so you can choose which domains alternatively specific people who will…

  7. Add ability to allow specific email useraccounts to skip SMTP authentication

Add ability to allow specific email user accounts to skip SMTP authentication if the connection is initiated from a specific IP adress.

Currently you can only choose to have or not have SMTP autentication, all over server.

I want to be able at a useraccount level to add exeptions from SMTP auth, by adding one or more IP-adresses (or range, DNS-names) that should skip SMTP Auth.

It's very usefull and it's possible in Exchange.

I have a customer that hesitates to move from Exchange to MDaemon, just because this function is missing in MDaemon.

It should be easy to fix?

    Hello,

Thanks for sharing your idea with us to allow an account to be excluded from the SMTP auth requirement when the connection is from a specified IP address.

My apologies for not providing this information previously.

Currently this can be done using a combination of IP Shielding and SMTP authentication. To do this go to Security / Security Settings / Sender Authentication / IP Shield. Enable IP Shielding and then add the domain/IP pairs for the IP address and domain you’d like to be able to send mail without authenticating. For example, if I want 10.10.10.10 to be able to send mail for test.mail without authenticating I would add a domain IP pair for test.mail, 10.10.10.10. At a minimum you’ll want to add a single domain IP pair for every domain that is hosted locally. If you don’t want to allow any IP addresses to send mail for the…

  8. OC DB size management

Have a setting to limit the size of the attachment folder and the cache.db file. This gets out of hand with larger accounts and start to use a vast amount of memory, which then crashes outlook 2016.

  9. Track the # of Graylisted connections

Graylisting is a great way to help stem the flood of spam when used properly. I believe it would be beneficial for reporting and/or monitoring purposes to be able to have a statistical count available over time. I would be great to review this on the Remote Admin Reports pages, possibly viewed as Email Count Graylisted and Email Count Successful.

  10. Remove the spam score when marked as not spam.

The spam score added to the subject line, if a user marks the message as 'Not Spam' reprocess the message to remove the spam score from the subject line. This would leave a much cleaner looking inbox.

  13. Provide an global option to disable preview

We discovered that is not possible to disable completely preview under Lookout theme: users can re-enable preview manually.
Under cryptolocker attacks is dangerous (according to us) to let users have preview, it's better if they can just see email listing so they can analize (according sender, subject etc.) if they want or not want open it and which attachment are enclosed.
Automatically opening email, as preview does is less secure if there is a dangerous script enclosed.
We ask an option to definitely disable preview for ALL (gray out button or similar)

    Sorry for my English
    Alessandro

    Hello Alessandro,

Thank you for sharing your idea to disable the message preview option. It will be considered for future versions. Currently you can disable this for all users when they login by setting the following key in the [Default:UserOverrides] section of the domains.ini file:

    MessageViewLayout=hide

This does not prevent the user from changing the value once they are logged in though. In order to do that you will have to edit WorldClient\HTML\LookOut\pages\menu.js and remove lines 146, 149-152. Save the file and then restart WorldClient.

If you’d like further assistance with this, please contact on our support team. All of our support options can be found at www.altn.com/support.

    Thanks,
    Arron

  14. Contain Out of Office messages to internal addresses only

An option to contain Out of Office messages to internal email addresses that can be controlled at the server level would be beneficial for us. We would like to be able to select certain email accounts to not send OOO messages to outside email accounts but still be allowed to email externally. Having this option available by the client would be beneficial as well.

    Hello Jim,

Thank you for sharing your idea with us. It will be considered for future versions.

In the mean time, depending on your configurations there may be a way to do it using the AutoResponder Whitelist. For example, you could exclude messages with a X-MDSPF-Result header. If your mail server is only inserting this header into messages from non local users it would exclude those addresses from receiving the auto response message.

Another option would be to use the content filter rule to send messages back to people instead of using the autoresponders. The content filter can check the from address and only send the message if its a local user.

    Thanks,
    Arron

  15. Add ability to force SSL/TLS connections for all authenticated users

Currently the only option available is to force MSA clients to use SSL/TLS, but should be an option for all authenticating clients. TLS uses the standard ports, so they cannot currently be forced to use encryption. Any authenticated POP, IMAP and SMTP should be subject to this.

    Hello Brian,

Thanks for sharing your ideas to force SSL/TLS for all clients. We will look into adding options for force TLS/SSL for IMAP and POP clients in a future version. One option to force POP and IMAP users to use SSL is to only allow the SSL ports for these protocols through the firewall. Another option is to turn off support for plain text passwords. This will force the users to choose a secure means of transmitting the password which are either the use of Cram-MD5 or an SSL/TLS connection. Forcing the use of SSL/TLS on port 25 may result in other servers not being able to send you email, but it is possible to do using the STARTTLS Required List.

    Thanks,

    Arron

  17. attachment (sample) testing in a sandbox

lots of malware comes to us via email . it looks like bills and other things. in some and more and more cases a normal antivirus system is not able to catch them. so it is good idea to start these attachments in a sandbox to see what happened.

    Hi Shane,

Thanks again for sharing your idea with us to allow potentially infected emails to be delivered to the administrator. While there are still concerns about releasing a potentially dangerous email to anyone, this is no more dangerous than the ability to release the message to the intended recipient. It will be considered for future versions.

    Thanks,
