I have been an Alt-N customer for over 10 years now. I originally became an Alt-N customer because I was able to use the free version. I continued using the free version for my personal email for several years - during which time I developed a great confidence level in the product and made the decisions for 2 companies to purchase MDaemon.

My point is that if Alt-N had not provided a free version of MDaemon when I wanted a solid (albeit limited) email server, I would probably not be an Alt-N customer today. As an independent consultant, I wanted my own email server instead of using my customer's email servers or free @g* or @y* accounts. Alt-N provided me with free MDaemon 5 user version in the early days when its great logging features helped me troubleshoot the installations and maintenance of the MDaemon software my customers purchased.

Please consider releasing another free version - even if it is limited to 1 or 2 User Accounts and 1 Domain. Even a 1 year trial with these limitations would be of great benefit to new-comers to the Alt-N community.

Maybe the free version is still available, but I didn't find it the other day when I went to setup and test a new Alt-N SecurityGateway.

Sure I could use a 60 day trial for that - but I plan to periodically test the SG for more than 60 days and don't feel like reinstalling and reconfiguring my test email server 6 months from now.

Another suggestion is to provide a free limited MDaemon edition for existing customers who already purchased MDaemon and other Alt-N products.
