Filters for outgoing e-mail / filteroptions in server for all imapi users of that account
hello Arron,
I'm changing from Pop to IMAPI so I also have al my e-mail at home when i'm working remote and not on my destop at the compagny.
I now have Thunderbird with a 60+ filters to sort the e-mail form college's suppliers customers private and so on in separate folders.
I sort incomming and outgoing email. But I cannot make filters for outgoing email...
( I think. I searched everywhere and the help text only speaks of incomming email. )
Is there an option to also filter the out going e-mail.
Filter e-mail after sending to be correct.
And also add the option to the rules "From / to / CC / BCC" now I have to make all those lines
separate.
I also miss 'stop filters' at the actions... you can put in one action...
But like more actions...
Move to folder and stop checking other filters...
I assume the filters are done top down... so when I have 60 the bottom one wins over others...
Some times you just like to stop if an e-mail matches a rule...
Having your mail filters working from the server is very handy, then your phone / webmail and local thunderbird with imapi have all the same settings / filters and e-mail .
And if you are busy on the filters... I have named them now
Customer-name1
Customer-name2
College-name1
College-name2
so you know which filter is for what... now I see there are named filter 1 filter2 ... is there an option to tag/name them... the sorting of lots of filters is much easier
I hope this is possible.. and others find it a good Idea as well.
Thanks,

Hello,
Thank you for the suggestion to add outbound filters and for providing all the details. It will be considered for future versions.
Thanks,
Arron

I made some screenshots... of my current thunderbird folders and filters.
This is what pop3-fans mis when they switch to imapi... and why I was hoping I could stay on pop3... but having your e-mail my 'Document archiving system' with me everywhere is what made me change...the link to a folder in my dropbox https://www.dropbox.com/sh/uq7d18ax81wvwlt/AADMxlJxp2JWflunf_a32Lysa?dl=0

Hy Arron, Thanks for your response.
Let me try to sum it up the most easy way for you and your programmers. It is mend to be nice...
Filters for outbound and inbound should and can be under the same header 'Filters'Inbound and outbound filters should have the same options:
Filters should have a name.
Standard options:
1/0 use at incomming e-mail
1/0 use at outbound e-mail
1/0 After sending
[x] must match all criteria [ ] must match one [ ] always do action no criteria.Fields to use in filters:
Subject
body (text)
from
to
cc
bcc
To or CC
from, to, cc or bcc (so you not need 4 lines to catch an email adres to filter on.)Only if you can execute filters on a folder with email that is in webmail for a while:
Date
Size (KB)
Status (forward / read / unread / replyed / label / star) (this is a maybe, not for me)Selectors to use:
Contains
Not contains
Starts with
Not starts with
Matches
Not matchesSmaller then (with dates only if you can do it on folders)
Bigger then (with dates)Maybe: Is in my adres book / is not in my adres book with to/from/cc/bcc (I do not use it but maybe some likes to)
Multiple Actions possible:
Move to folder
Copy to folder
Mark Read
Mark unread (if on folders done or if other filters have put it on read a new filter can make it unread)
Mark with a star or label (what mdeamon uses in the webclient)
Mark priority (high normal low) (I do not use it but if you do make nice filters it is something many may like)
Delete ( and/or move to trash)
No notification (for emails that are just a logging for example)
Mailbox alert (not standard notification but something extra that makes you read this email direct for the really important ones) (I can understand if this does not make it)
Stop filtering (If it matches this one, than stop with filtering)Within the actions you may like to sort the order after the user makes on to make sure the software can do all it actions correct for example:
1 Copy
2 forward
3 Move
4 Mark
5 Notify
6 Stop filters. When someone deletes a folder, filters can be compromised... make sure that the folder is changed to the inbox or there is a message in the webclient
And probably more checks need to be build in. ( we only think of the good we like to have, you also need to fix the bad happing ;-) )I think I put in a complete something for filter. Enligh is not my native language so maybe not all is clear. please do ask for answers.
Thanks for considering this extra function.
Best regards,
