Thanks for sharing your idea with us. This timer does not require the entire message to be received in 180 seconds. When receiving inbound emails SecurityGateway waits 180 seconds for data to be received on the socket. Basically when receiving an email SecurityGateway will wait for 3 minutes and if no data is received in 3 minutes it times out. As long as data is being received SecurityGateway will wait as long as it takes for the entire message to be delivered.

Allowing this timer to be customized will be considered for future versions.
