Smart Folder for Worldclient
In Em Client which I use as my email program, I have the ability to setup a smart folder view for Drafts, Unread Email and Flagged Items.
Worldclient already has the ability to view drafts folder so thats ok. However having a folder for unread email and a folder for Flagged Items (that show categories) would drastically improve the usage of Worldclient.
If you look at Em Client website and Screenshots you will see their layout of Unread Emails and Flagged Emails. I cannot tell you how much my email management has improved by having these two folders. I consider them essential if you receive a lot of email and you need to flag emails that you cannot deal with immediately and you have the ability to easily view unread emails in all sub folders from one view.
Hi Robert,
Thanks for your idea to add a Smart Folder to WorldClient. This is already possible using the Saved Searches Functionality. If you want saved searches to show up in your folder list, you’ll need to enable it under Options / Folders. Then simply save the searches based on your criteria.
Thanks again,
Arron

Hi Arron,
I have very recently moved a couple of schools onto Mdaemon and Worldclient and have received the same comments from a number of people used to using Office 365 or Gmail with regards to this issue.
Worldlclient really needs a system integrated smart inbox folder design like the drafts folder where you can view unread emails folder, flagged or starred items folder and one of the biggest complaints was the difficulty of adding an email to a category as you first have to enable categories in options, columns and as far as I can see the only way to add the category to the email is to right click the email and select categories from the list. Not intuitive to the average user.
I have tried your suggestion, but this approach is a bit clunky in that you have to keep unticking the saved search when you go to another folder. This is not practical when you need to be in and out of inbox, subfolders and smart folder view all day long.
As I also mentioned in my previous comment, it does not show the number of unread/flagged emails unless you go to the saved search to see.
Every single business manager and headteacher at all my clients which are schools all use categories and flag emails to manage their emails as do I and I suspect that most businesses use this functionality.
This is the one thing that puts most new clients off Worldclient - the apparent lack of functionality with regards to flagging and categorising of emails especially with regards to viewing flagged emails.
Categories in emails needs to be enabled by default for users logging into worldclient for the first time. You need to be able to click the email and click categories in the same way you click flag - people don't know to right click the email to get categories and last it really is vital to have a dedicated flagged or starred folder and unread folder in the same way that Worldclient has a drafts folder. People can always have the option to remove/hide these folders if they don't want it.
Please do consider reviewing this as in the last month or so, I had a number of users in the new schools that I have taken onboard complaining about this lack of functionality.
Thank you

Hi Arron,
I have looked at this and initially had a bit of trouble getting it to work as I did not realise that I had to tick the box for all dates.
I thought that ticking the box would select the dates displayed but I wanted all dates. Having said that, if you select a range of dates, it's not working. It doesn't seem to work if you select specific dates. I think there is a bug there.
While I have got it to work, I would still recommend that you make the unread and flagged emails as default folders in Worldclient like you have for Drafts.
The reason being is that most people would find this feature very useful and many people (myself included) did not know that you could enable this by saving it as a search, so the functionality is not being used by the vast majority of Worlclient users and its essential functionality in my opinion. Also if you don't know about the feature, you will never use it.
Also another problem with the saved search is that it does not show how many emails are unread/flagged unless you click on the folder to see, which is not efficient.
It would be far better to have them as a default system folders like drafts, then it would show the email count and be used by everyone. A lot of people may come from an email client that does not have smart folder functionality, so would not know about this feature. I feel that once you have used the smart inbox functionality, you will wonder how you managed without it.
Thank you.
