While I support the idea for CalDAV, CardDAV and WebDAV, a seperate Outlook Connector for Mac is needed.
Outlook for Mac does not support those protocols, nor would those protocols allow for folder sharing, out of office setup, etc.
Hello,
At this time we do not have plans to develop an MDaemon Connector plugin for Outlook running on Mac. Thank you all for your feedback.

I have several users who would benefit from this - currently trialling Outlook Connector from Windows

Actually, OS/X has native support for WebDAV Open standards at an OS-level (via the iCal & Address Book apps), but the issue really comes in where ms fails to properly integrate common Open Standards.
I've encountered this problem when trying to get bi-directional sync going with Google Apps & outlook - I'm able to get sync working fine with almost *all* clients (Thunderbird, iOS, OS/X, etc) via WebDAV/CalDAV/CardDAV - but ms/office/outlook seem to be very strongly opposed to coming to the party, rather insisting on using the exchange protocol (hence the development of OpenChange) -
