  1. Add ability to force SSL/TLS connections for all authenticated users

Currently the only option available is to force MSA clients to use SSL/TLS, but should be an option for all authenticating clients. TLS uses the standard ports, so they cannot currently be forced to use encryption. Any authenticated POP, IMAP and SMTP should be subject to this.

    Hello Brian,

Thanks for sharing your ideas to force SSL/TLS for all clients. We will look into adding options for force TLS/SSL for IMAP and POP clients in a future version. One option to force POP and IMAP users to use SSL is to only allow the SSL ports for these protocols through the firewall. Another option is to turn off support for plain text passwords. This will force the users to choose a secure means of transmitting the password which are either the use of Cram-MD5 or an SSL/TLS connection. Forcing the use of SSL/TLS on port 25 may result in other servers not being able to send you email, but it is possible to do using the STARTTLS Required List.

    Thanks,

    Arron

  2. Add mail merge abilities to Mailing lists

I'd like to see the ability to merge data fields into email shots (first name, company etc).

  3. Add Filter Option to Mark Messages As Read

When creating message filters, in addition to rules that move messages to folders other than the Inbox, there should be an option to mark messages as Read.

  5. Copy content filter rule in WebAdmin should disable the new rule and place it just below the existing rule

It would be great if the copy rule copied to just below the source rule (rather than the bottom of the list) and also set the resultant rule to disabled

  8. Hash imap folders

Many users in our system save a very large amount of messages especially in the inbox. Unfortunately having 50k-100k-150k of messages in the inbox force MDaemon to save the same amount of files in a single folder, and this slows down the system very much.

It would be great if also the IMAP folders (Inbox, Sent Items and so on) would use the same options "Hash message folders" available for the message queues.
In this way the system would not suffer so much as now in this case.

  9. Include Origin IP Address in Spam Trap and Bayesian Folder listings

It would / may be helpful to include the origin IP Address as a separate column when viewing spam and suspect spam in the Queues \ Spam Trap and Queues \ Bayesian contents. This would allow the email administrator to sort by IP Address as a "fingerprint" when investigating incidents.

  10. MultiIMAP Option

I would like to see a MultiIMAP option much like MultiPOP. Some of the small business phone systems now only support IMAP for voicemail retrieval. Instead of pulling this into an IMAP client like Outlook, it would be nice to pull it into Mdaemon so that it could also be accessed in ActiveSync and WorldClient clients.

  11. Size restriction on ingoing/outgoing basis

Currently there is a setting for restricting large message sizes, with an option for skipping this check for authenticated sessions.

Can this be improved on to allow different configurable values for local domains, and everyone else. Effectively a different limit for authenticated sessions, rather than the existing bypass.

It would be advantageous to limit the size of emails sent out, but not prevent larger ones from being received.

    Hello Tim,

Thank you for submitting your idea, it will be considered for future versions.

In case you are not aware similar functionality can be accomplished using the content filter, however, the server will need to accept the mail for processing. Then if the message was over the limit set the rule would need to delete the email and send a message back to the sender notifying them of the problem.

  12. Sync Email Categories

I use Em client as my Email client on both my computer and laptop. I have asked Em Client about this and they say this is a server side issue. When I flag an email and categorise it, only the flag is synced. The category is not synced with the server. So I have to manually add the Category in Webmail or on the second machine running Em client.

I am using Imap to send and receive emails. Could you make it possible for Mdaemon to support syncing categories via imap. Thank you.

  13. Mimic the Top email Category of Gmail (Promotions, Social,Forums)

The very recent of gmail categories is great.
Some emails are half-spam. You register in a site (e.g. amazon) for doing some shopping and then they keep sending info. Or Tech news site.
On a daily basis I don't have the time to read the newsletters and daily deleting the emails is a waste of time. But they aren't 100% spam so I don't want to block their emails forever.
If we could mimic the right button option where you say to which folder we want to move the email and if we want to create a filter to do…

  14. Add ability to allow specific email useraccounts to skip SMTP authentication

Add ability to allow specific email user accounts to skip SMTP authentication if the connection is initiated from a specific IP adress.

Currently you can only choose to have or not have SMTP autentication, all over server.

I want to be able at a useraccount level to add exeptions from SMTP auth, by adding one or more IP-adresses (or range, DNS-names) that should skip SMTP Auth.

It's very usefull and it's possible in Exchange.

I have a customer that hesitates to move from Exchange to MDaemon, just because this function is missing in MDaemon.

It should be easy to fix?

    Hello,

Thanks for sharing your idea with us to allow an account to be excluded from the SMTP auth requirement when the connection is from a specified IP address.

My apologies for not providing this information previously.

Currently this can be done using a combination of IP Shielding and SMTP authentication. To do this go to Security / Security Settings / Sender Authentication / IP Shield. Enable IP Shielding and then add the domain/IP pairs for the IP address and domain you’d like to be able to send mail without authenticating. For example, if I want 10.10.10.10 to be able to send mail for test.mail without authenticating I would add a domain IP pair for test.mail, 10.10.10.10. At a minimum you’ll want to add a single domain IP pair for every domain that is hosted locally. If you don’t want to allow any IP addresses to send mail for the…

    Hello,

MDaemon uses the Operating System to handle SSL and TLS functionality. As long as the operating system supports ECC certificates, MDaemon will use them.

For MD PGP, we are currently only able to generate key pairs using RSA, we will look into adding support for ECC key pairs for a future version.

    Thanks,
    Arron

  16. ComAgent: Save recipient list for group chats

It would be nice to be able to save a recipient list for group chats so that instead of having to select each recipient every time you start a group chat you could select a pre-saved group to send the message to.

  17. Test Email Delivery

The ability to "Send a Test Email" to a group list to show which recipients will receive it if external, and if internal which folder the email message will reside in once delivered.

The email would not actually get delivered as the purpose is to she who will get it and where would it be stored.

This would be ideal for customers who have mailing groups within mail groups with mailing groups.

  18. Track the # of Graylisted connections

Graylisting is a great way to help stem the flood of spam when used properly. I believe it would be beneficial for reporting and/or monitoring purposes to be able to have a statistical count available over time. I would be great to review this on the Remote Admin Reports pages, possibly viewed as Email Count Graylisted and Email Count Successful.

  19. Send failed authentication reports to user

Improvement of this report : Account authentication failed Numerous times " xx@zzz.com "

it would be nice to have an option to choose whether the postmaster of the domain and / or the owner of the account also receive this alert ( this idea could be extended to all types of reports )

  20. Instalation of MDaemon opens relevant Windows Firewall rules automatically

It would be very useful if MDaemon configured the relevant Windows Firewall rules when installed. This is especially relevant on server O/S where by default the windows firewall blocks all incoming access.

This should be a simple case of running the netsh advfirewall commans e.g.

    netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="MDaemon SMTP IN" dir=in action=allow protocol=TCP localport=25

    netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="MDaemon SMTP Out" dir=out action=allow protocol=TCP localport=25

If this could be done for all Running services and also rules were deleted and recreated if ports change for these services or updated it would make it much easier for…
