Hash imap folders
Many users in our system save a very large amount of messages especially in the inbox. Unfortunately having 50k-100k-150k of messages in the inbox force MDaemon to save the same amount of files in a single folder, and this slows down the system very much.
It would be great if also the IMAP folders (Inbox, Sent Items and so on) would use the same options "Hash message folders" available for the message queues.
In this way the system would not suffer so much as now in this case.
Hello,
Thanks you for the additional information. Your request to hash the IMAP folders will be considered for future versions of MDaemon.
Thanks again,
Arron

Thanks!
PS: of course this will also improve the MDaemon's performance. Consider that MD would read the content of different smaller folders in stead of reading the content of a single big folder. I know that the file data would finish in a single "memory array", but the reading operation would be much faster. Thanks,

Hi Arron, thank you for your answer.
Well, it would not improve the performance of MDaemon itself, it will improve the performances of the system running MDaemon. For example, if you open Windows Explorer in a directory with 150'000 files it will look as hanged for seconds/minutes. Or if you want to copy or backup the content of a directory, and so on...
The user does not even know about the problem, and I cannot push customers to organize their email folders according to the system performances or the problems that they cause if they keep their inbox full of messages.
I hope I was explaining better the need which is at the base of the hint..
Thanks,
Michele
