Split the SMTP (in) log in several files
The "SMTP (in) log" (and screen) is a very useful tool for debugging and/or checking when someone complaints an email is "missing".
However, due to the amount of useless traffic spammers and crackers generate it can be full of useless information.
I think that an option should be given to split the SMTP (in) in the following categories:
a) SMTP (in accepted): Only logs sessions where an email has been delivered
b) SMTP (in rejected): Only logs sessions where an email has been rejected after the DATA command (for example with a 550 this looks as SPAM)
c) SMTP (in…

Add an option to sort mails based on their read/unread status.
Most users have their inbox sorted by 'date received' and sometimes miss an unread mail when it arrived with significant delay.

Support T.38 pass through
RelayFax supports T.38 fax relay using UDPTL protocol, but does not support T.38 pass through, where the fax is sent over a VOIP call encoded as audio using RTP.

Spam filter per domain
It would be nice if the spam filter worked per domain rather than as a global setting.
eg. We run multiple domains and one domain would like tighter spam filtering by adjusting the spam score parameters, however you can't do this without also affecting the other domains.5 votesHello Ryan,
Thank you for sharing your suggestion to add per domain spam filter settings to MDaemon. Your idea will be considered for future versions of MDaemon.

Script to know/purge share's folder when users are gone or disabled
it could be a good thing to have a script (periodic) or manual into mdaemon to know "ghosts" permissions shared.
Sometimes, i noticed users are gone to another society, but folder's sharing still have her mail and right,
the script could be compare the users disabled or missing in the database, and scan folders permissions, and make a rapport.
After administrator could make decision to let it or purge

Auto Respons function, Separate response messages depending on whether it is a local or external account
In Exchange, you can choose two different auto reply messages depending on whether the sender is a local account on the mail server (colleagues) or if the sender is external.
Very useful when you are on vacation you might want to inform your colleagues about how to manage internal affairs during the absence, you can inform about the times they can call even though you have holiday etc.
External response will not contain that information.
You may also be able to develop this great feature even better than Exchange, so you can choose which domains alternatively specific people who will…

Option to HOLD undeliverable email to invalid email addresses for configured domains
The SG currently rejects all email not associated with a user account or alias. It would be great to have an option that either passes this email to the inside servers or HOLD the undeliverable email to enable the Admin to determine its disposition or change its Recipient email address.
The Default for this option should be the current behavior of rejecting email to invalid recipients and replying to the sender with an Non-delivery 550 email.
This feature is important to us because not all of our customers have 100% typing accuracy when it comes to email addresses. This also…

Zero Inbox Filtering (server-side)
I have been using a service for a while that saves a lot of time by automatically filtering emails out of my inbox and into folders (it learns how I move emails to/from these folders). It would be really cool if MD could provide the same functionality to users. This raises productivity.

Add ability to force SSL/TLS connections for all authenticated users
Currently the only option available is to force MSA clients to use SSL/TLS, but should be an option for all authenticating clients. TLS uses the standard ports, so they cannot currently be forced to use encryption. Any authenticated POP, IMAP and SMTP should be subject to this.
5 votesHello Brian,
Thanks for sharing your ideas to force SSL/TLS for all clients. We will look into adding options for force TLS/SSL for IMAP and POP clients in a future version. One option to force POP and IMAP users to use SSL is to only allow the SSL ports for these protocols through the firewall. Another option is to turn off support for plain text passwords. This will force the users to choose a secure means of transmitting the password which are either the use of Cram-MD5 or an SSL/TLS connection. Forcing the use of SSL/TLS on port 25 may result in other servers not being able to send you email, but it is possible to do using the STARTTLS Required List.
Thanks,

Long Running (stay connected) and Live Log Display (refresh interval)
I really like the MDaemon client's log that can be continually live for administrator viewing.
I would like to see something similar in the SG. I would like to see options for the web client:
1) Length of time to stay connected before auto logging outOptions right on the detail Logs and Messages Logs (All, Quarantine, etc) screens:
2) Automatic Log Refresh (enable/disable checkbox) and refresh intervalBehavior for the Messages Logs (All, Quarantine, etc.)
3) Disable Automatic Logging when any of the Message links are clicked. Uncheck the Automatic Logging checkbox immediately when disabling the Automatic Logging.4 votesHello Arnold,
Thank you for your suggestion to add the ability to have the logs updated in real time in the SecurityGateway GUI. We will consider adding this for future versions of SecurityGateway.

Size restriction on ingoing/outgoing basis
Currently there is a setting for restricting large message sizes, with an option for skipping this check for authenticated sessions.
Can this be improved on to allow different configurable values for local domains, and everyone else. Effectively a different limit for authenticated sessions, rather than the existing bypass.
It would be advantageous to limit the size of emails sent out, but not prevent larger ones from being received.
4 votesHello Tim,
Thank you for submitting your idea, it will be considered for future versions.
In case you are not aware similar functionality can be accomplished using the content filter, however, the server will need to accept the mail for processing. Then if the message was over the limit set the rule would need to delete the email and send a message back to the sender notifying them of the problem.
