Add Graphical Statistical Add-on for MDaemon
I wish there was an Add-on for MDaemon that can Analyze the MDaemon Logs & give Administrator, Statistical information about E-mails like:
- Number of E-mail from/to a Box/Domain or Domains .
- Size of E-mails from/to a Box/Domain or Domains .
- Information regarding to Protocols ( Imap/Smtp/Pop3 ) .
- Statistics about How a E-mail Box worked by Send/Rec. E-mails .
- Latest information about Time/Date of Users E-mails .
I think that, if Alt-n prepare this Add-on, it will be better than others 3'th Party Companies.

Content Filter - Compose group name from variable
When creating a content filter, it would be good to be able to compose the name of a group from variables. Currently, i can't e.g. use 'If the SENDER' is a member of "x1.$FILTERRULENAME$"... to declare a group based on the filtername (or other variable), which limits automation on certain occasions.
1 voteHello,
Thank you for the additional information. The first issue I see is that the content filter does not currently support searching multiple groups for the sender. If that were supported, you could use a rule similar to the following to archive messages being sent out by employees.
RuleName=Purchasing
Enable=Yes
ThisRuleCondition=Any
ProcessQueue=BOTH
Condition01=$SENDER$|group member|OR|CMP1Group|CMP2Group|CMP3Group
Action01=copy to dir|“e:\Archive\$DOMAIN\$MAILBOX$\Purchasing\”We will look into supporting the searching of multiple groups for future versions.
In the current version there are archiving options in MDaemon that may help, although, they may not provide the granularity you are looking for. The options can be found at Setup / Server Settings / Archiving.
If you would like further assistance configuring this please contact our support team. All of our support options can be found at www.altn.com/support.

Worldclient IM puts user online when user's desktop is locked and someone moves the mouse or touches the keyboard...
... like the cleaning lady.
What I would like to say: that should not happen. When the desktop is locked, the user is not there, and should not be online (unless he's using a remote session of course like when connected through RDP to the machine where WCIM runs on).
2 votesHello,
Thank you for your suggestion to not change the users IM status while the machine is locked. This will be considered for future versions.

Domain autoresponders
We run multiple domains on mdaemon, and would like the to implement a domain wide autoresponder when we have an annual shutdown, this is not possible at present so we have a rule in the content filter that sends a reply to all recieved e-mails over the shutdown, the problem with this is that if a response is sent to an email address that does not accept replies we get a mail back again saying the mail address does not accept replies, our rule sends the 'auto responder' response back again and it results in a ping pong match between…

Calendar Synchronization between servers
I know a few have requested systems involving the Calendar, but may I also add this idea..
It would be nice to have a Calendar system that I can synchronise between MDaemon Servers. We operate two sites and require a system where everybody can access the same corporate calendar system, which is proving difficult to sync through present methods.
Many thanks!
11 votesHello Matthew,
Thanks you for sharing your idea to synchronize a calendar between servers. It will be considered for future versions of MDaemon.

Directly deny accepting emails containing certaines attachments (e.g. iso) already at reception instead of using CF to avoid archving issues
Close connection when receiving files with certain (configurable) attachement types (for example ISO-files) instead of first accepting the mail and then passing it through Content Filter to delete/quarantine the mail in the second step. This has the advantage that a mail that has never been accepted does not need to be archived (in combination with saving bandwidth/cpu/disk space,...) and probably it would be easy to implement.
1 voteHello Tom,
Thank you for sharing your idea with us to reject messages that contain attachments which match the restricted attachments list. It will be considered for future versions.

Ability to rearrange folders in worldclient
I would like to be able to rearrange folders in mdaemon. I mainly us a shared folder as my inbox and it would be great to be able to move it to the root of my email account rather than browsing to it every time I log in.

Show mailing list members in Outlook / OC
We make use of different organizational units, each with their own mailing list. It would be nice to check the members of a mailing list in Outlook before you post a message. Or add a feature on the OC ribbon to check mailing list members.
47 votesWe will consider adding this for future versions of OutlookConnector.

Allow access to Webmail without password when a certain HTTP header is set
When a trusted source like a reverse proxy sets a certain HTTP header, then Webmail should log that user in without asking a password. Much like "x-webobjects-remote-user" HTTP request header in SOGo.
This would allow an already authentified user (on a reverse proxy for example) to get immediate access by simply having the proxy forward the connected user's name.
The trusted gateways would need to be specified by at least their IP address to prevent abuse.
2 votesHello,
Thank you for your suggestion to allow users that have authenticated on a reverse proxy to login to webmail without giving a password. It will be considered for future versions.

Enhancement to inactive accounts when never accessed
I am suggesting an enhancement to the current Inactive accounts option. If an account is created but never accessed, it never becomes active and the counter for inactivity never begins. Those accounts then remain enabled and increase the attack surface.
I would like to propose that the Inactive check look at the last accessed date, and if blank, looks at the created date, and then applies the action using the same value as set for Inactive, disabling and notifying of any accounts disabled as a result of this.
Regards,
Tim1 voteHello Tim,

Account Pruning
Ability to exclude pruning of certain IMAP folders. Would like to be able to inform users to create certain folders and save email in those folders that would never be pruned. Right now we can prune inbox and/or all IMAP folders. If we don't choose IMAP folders even the send items folder would not be pruned.

Option to Drop Connection Immediately upon DNSBL or Blacklist IP Lookup Found
The IP Blacklist and DNSBL actions should have the option to drop the SMTP connection immediately after learning that the source IP is black listed. The reason to drop the connection immediately is to reduce the additional processing that is essentially wasted if the policy is to reject the email.
The Blacklist IPs and DNSBL should be examined ASAP after connection to minimize the time to decide to drop a listed connection. Dropping the listed connection ASAP reduces the chance of an SPAM or SMTP attack from overloading the SG.
7 votesHello Arnold,
I have verified with our developers that the tests are occurring after the RCPT command so that any domain exceptions that exist can be applied. We will consider having the tests occur earlier in the session when no domain exceptions exist for future versions of SecurityGateway.

Better warning when unable to reach altn-servers for licensing
You get an unclear warning from MDaemon if it can't reach the altn-servers to check the license. It basically just say that the system will shutdown in 7 days. In the log you can see what the problem is, but not what is going to happen. The GUI doesn't tell you anything. A 7 days warning is really bad during summer vacation. There should be a lot more days and a better explanation in the mail.
1 voteHello,
Thank you for sharing your idea for improving the email that is sent to the postmaster. The inclusion of a better explanation along with increasing the number of days before shutting the server down, will be considered for future versions.
